In 2021, StemUp Girls provided an infrastructure boost to select schools In Central Thailand. Families in this district live in under-privileged conditions and work in agriculture and factory jobs.
StemUp Girls organized a digital literacy STEM camp for girls age 13-15 in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. The students improved their foundational skills to better prepare them for the modern digital economy.
Five schools were supported: Watkohwangsai School, Watthammasala School, Wattupluang School, Ban Nong Ngu Lueam School and Watwangnamkhiew School.
Schools benefited from the installation and/or improvement of internet technology facilities to enable more effective e-learning through the student population.
Within STEM, the higher you go, the less women there are whether in education or workplace.
Today STEM skills are replacing core literacy. From early ages, girls are not exposed to female STEM role models.
Research shows that role models have a clearly positive impact on girls' perception of STEM subjects. We will inspire younger students and increase their exposure to female STEM role models through real life storytelling and a StemUp Girls Get Inspired campaign.
21st century learning needs 21st century resources. We will help underprivileged girls and disadvantaged schools in rural, remote and/or impoverished regions in Asia get access to some of the tools necessary for learning in the age of information.
Our resource drives will provide access to tools that allow students to better develop problem solving, critical thinking and digital literacy skills.
We know STEM skills are interconnected with future workforce readiness and humanitarian benefits.
